Protect one off-duty window
If support exists, define one block when another trusted adult owns the door, dishes, messages, and non-urgent decisions. Rest still counts if sleep does not come.
“Sleep when the baby sleeps” is not a complete care plan.
Postpartum rest is shaped by pain, anxiety, household labor, work, other children, and whether another adult is available. The goal is not perfect sleep. It is reducing preventable exhaustion and noticing when sleeplessness is becoming a health concern.
WHAT YOU CAN TRY TODAY
If support exists, define one block when another trusted adult owns the door, dishes, messages, and non-urgent decisions. Rest still counts if sleep does not come.
Write down who handles each task, what truly requires waking you, and what can wait until morning. A vague “let me know if you need help” is not a shift plan.
Dim light, reduce scrolling, use a familiar sensory ritual, and keep a notepad for thoughts you do not need to solve overnight. Comfort practices can support rest without being medical treatment.
PROTECT ONE WINDOW
Choose the path that matches your real life. You do not need to pretend a helper exists.

This guide cannot assess your health, diagnose a condition, check your complete medicine list, or tell you whether a product or practice is right for you. Use it to ask better questions and make care easier to reach—not to delay needed help.
